In Florida, child support plans are determined by a statewide formula. Luckily, this formula is fairly predictable, so we can help you understand what to expect from the beginning. While courts cannot vary from these guidelines on a whim, changes can be made under specific circumstances. Child support plans usually last until the children involved turn 18, but can continue until age 19 if the child is in high school with a reasonable expectation of graduation by the 19th birthday. In cases involving children with special needs, child support can continue.
The court will consider the net income of both parties, as well as work-related child care costs, medical insurance, and other economic factors that play into your relationship with your children.
